Volunteer

The success of Literacy Forsyth rests on its volunteers.

· Adult Literacy Tutors: provide one-on-one tutoring for low-level and non-reading adults.  All training and materials are provided. Minimum Age: 22

· Staff for events and fund raisers

· Administrative help for the Literacy Forsyth office in Cumming

Have you been thinking about becoming an adult literacy tutor?  Our tutors are college graduates with a genuine interest in teaching adults — no prior teaching experience is required.  Tutors work one-on-one with students days, evenings, or weekends. Literacy Forsyth provides free tutor training, materials, and program management.

To learn more about tutoring, Literacy Forsyth, and volunteer opportunities, please register for the next Volunteer Orientation session.  Orientation sessions are held every quarter at our Cumming office. Interested participants may go on to attend a Tutor Training Session. These half-day sessions provide instruction and practice in techniques used in tutoring adults.
