Forsyth County CLCP Receives Grant from Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation

September 19, 2008 – Cumming, GA – Today, the Forsyth County CLCP received a $4,900 grant from the Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation Foundation.  The grant was funded by the foundation's Operation Round Up program which enables utility customers to round their payments up to the next dollar to help fund local community programs.

The Forsyth County CLCP will use the grant money to fund student scholarships to cover GED Test Fees for qualified county applicants.  The CLCP scholarship program had been suspended earlier in the year due to a depletion of funds.  The grant from Sawnee has enabled the Forsyth County CLCP to resurrect the scholarship program, effective immediately.

About Operation Round Up

The mission of the Sawnee Electric Membership Foundation is to assist in strengthening the communities served by Sawnee EMC. The Foundation will accomplish this mission by providing financial assistance to selected charitable organizations through the Foundation’s Operation Round Up program. This program affords SEMC members the opportunity to “round up” their energy bills to the next highest dollar. These funds, along with monies from other organizations, allow donations to students, schools and various 501 (c)(3) and 501 (c)(4) organizations located within Sawnee EMC’s service territory, which includes parts of Cherokee, Dawson, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall and Lumpkin counties.
